The forum was graced with a welcoming address by Prof. Emmanuel Ong and started the debate proper with Dr. Romero C. Hermosilla and Ms. Pamela Dalman as the Debate Moderators. The Mayoralty candidates present to participate on the debate were Datu Ismail Malangas, Atty. Volter Rovira (representative for Hon. Celso Regencia), Pastor Cocoy Sabarre, and Hon. Roderick Marzo. The candidates mentioned their individual platforms. Datu Ismail aims for a good government—livelihood for the people, free education and free medication. Atty. Rovira advertised Hon. Celso Regencia with a platform of peace and order imposition in Iligan and the elimination of the drug problems, graft and corruption. Pastor Sabarre’s platform on the other hand, is the all-out war against drugs. Meanwhile, Hon. Roderick Marzo promises to continue his service to our Iliganon people having been able to bring progress and gave more jobs in his six (6) year experience as a Councilor, Vice Mayor and acting Mayor (recently).

These mayoralty candidates showed some wits and wisdom during the forum. Nonetheless, although their abilities and capabilities may add impressions to the listeners, what matters the most is their intentions—true and innate. The mayoralty candidates may be the best speaker during the debate but it is not necessarily the best leader. Moreover, the future of a better Iligan lies on the good decision and the hands of the voters.

St. Michael's College of Iligan City, a Catholic institution of higher learning in Iligan City, administered by the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM), offering four levels of education: elementary, secondary, tertiary and graduate school.

Its programs are accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) for 25 years, a silver triumph indeed!
